Monday Night Juniors

My first Monday night in the junior academy I was happy and excited! I couldn’t wait to get in the kart and get going. When we arrived at TeamKarting it was really busy and I could see lots of other boys and girls in there race suits, Mark came to see us and told me to get my helmet on ready as I was going to go out in the beginner kart first to see how I could deal with the faster speeds and the heavier kart. Now in bambino’s the marshals have the karts out on track ready but in Juniors we get in the kart in the pit lane and set off from there. I got in the kart and out on track, to start off I would be following mark round for a bit then go on my own to see how i did. This was to make sure I could handle the pace as it was faster and I loved every minute of it! Now I must of done well as Mark said when I came off I would be going on with the juniors as I was fast enough.

Well what an experience that was! They were all really confident in their abilities and were zooming around the track whereas me I was sliding everywhere as I wasn’t used to the kart but I enjoyed it, learnt a lot and couldn’t wait to get back no the kart the week after. Now in the week I had off from karting I decided I needed to improve my strength so I did small workouts every day, this involved weights, burpees, jogging etc. I also watched back my footage from that night to help me learn and I also did a lot of reaction training this will all help me to improve. The following week when I got back in the kart I felt stronger and was able to control the kart better, I also didn’t feel as tired so I continued doing small 15-20 minute workouts everyday while I wasn’t in the kart. About my 3rd week in the kart I was able to keep up with the other drivers and do some overtaking but I was still only allowed in the kart during race academy (due to me not being 8 yet) After being in the junior academy for around 5-6 weeks I was told the great news that I could now start going on arrive and drive sessions! This meant I could be in the kart more which I thought was the best news ever!!
