SuperOne ‘O’ Plate – Rowrah Circuit

A Weekend of Learning, Progress & Strong Results

The Super One ‘O’ Plate at Rowrah marked a huge milestone — my first official race weekend with XKart. From the moment we arrived, I was excited to get started, especially after receiving my new team suit earlier in the week, which made me feel fully part of the team.

Friday – Practice Day

We arrived at the circuit early, with dry but windy conditions setting the scene for the day. After a track walk with Jack and attending the drivers briefing, I prepared for my first session.

It was immediately clear this would be a step up, with 20 drivers on track — the busiest session I’ve experienced so far. That only added to the excitement.

Throughout the day, I worked closely with Jack and Ian, reviewing data and onboard footage after each session and making adjustments to improve performance. Session by session, my confidence grew, and my lap times improved consistently.

By the end of the day, I had remained inside the top 10 and built a strong foundation heading into race conditions.

Saturday – Qualifying & Heat 1

Saturday brought cooler, overcast conditions. After another track walk, the team made some overnight adjustments, including replacing the brake disc and pads following issues on Friday.

The kart felt improved in practice, although there was still some lack of power on the straights, likely due to the engine still bedding in after a rebuild.

In qualifying, I wasn’t able to put together a clean lap and finished P15.

In Heat 1, I made a strong start, gaining four positions early. With solid pace and controlled racing, I worked my way through the field and finished P9 — a positive result that showed strong progression.

Sunday – Race Day

Sunday delivered extremely challenging conditions, with heavy rain, strong winds, and very limited visibility.

Heat 2

Starting P15, I stayed composed in difficult conditions and worked my way through the field to finish P8, demonstrating consistent pace and control.

Super Heat

Starting P8, the race was interrupted by a red flag, forcing a restart.

On the second start, I was unfortunately involved in an incident that dropped me down the order. Despite this setback, I fought my way back to P11 on track.

A dropped nose penalty initially moved me down to P16, but after further penalties in the field, I was classified P12.

It was later confirmed that the kart had sustained a bent track rod during the collision, making the recovery drive even more challenging.

Final

By the final, conditions had improved significantly, with a drying track and reduced wind.

Starting P12, I made a strong start and moved forward into the top 10. After another red flag and restart, I continued to push, battling hard and gaining positions.

I crossed the line in P7, rounding off the weekend with a strong result.

Overall Reflection

This weekend provided a huge amount of learning.

From adapting to changing weather conditions to managing setbacks and racing in a highly competitive field, every session added valuable experience.

Most importantly, it proved that I can stay focused, fight back from difficult situations, and continue to improve.

Looking Ahead

Focus now shifts to Rounds 1 & 2 of the Super One Series at Rowrah, where I’ll be aiming to build on this momentum.

I’m excited to get back out on track and keep progressing.
