Rounds 1 & 2 | A Weekend of Progress, Pace & Resilience
The opening rounds of the 2026 Super One Series at Rowrah marked an important milestone — our first full championship weekend with the team.
With mixed conditions across the weekend, it proved to be a true test of adaptability, confidence, and race craft — and one that delivered plenty of positives to take forward.
Friday – Practice Day
Friday morning started with heavy fog around the circuit, creating a tricky start to the day, although conditions remained mild overall.
I was excited to get out on track for the first official sessions of the weekend, and that energy showed straight away.
Running on wet tyres throughout the day, we completed six sessions, with pace improving consistently in each one. Confidence built with every run, and it was clear early on that we were heading into the race weekend in a strong position.
It was a solid, productive day that set the foundation for the rest of the weekend.
Saturday – Round 1
Saturday didn’t ease us in gently. Heavy rain, strong winds, and cold temperatures made for some of the toughest conditions we’ve faced so far.
Despite that, the pace was there. We stayed consistent, focused, and continued learning throughout the day, adapting to ever-changing grip levels.
While results didn’t fully reflect the pace due to on-track incidents, there was clear progress across every session.
Results:
Qualifying – P17
Heat 1 – P13
Heat 2 – P13
Final – P11
A strong recovery through the day showed resilience and composure in very challenging conditions.
Sunday – Round 2
Sunday brought much better conditions, allowing for consistent dry running and a real opportunity to push.
Progress was clear from the first session, with lap times improving and confidence building throughout the day. The kart felt strong, and each session built momentum.
In the Final, a brilliant start saw us move up to P6 within the opening corners, showing the pace and race craft we’ve been building.
Unfortunately, an unavoidable incident ahead resulted in a red flag. Damage to the kart — including a broken track rod, bent steering column, and heavy bumper damage — meant we were unable to take the restart.
Results:
Qualifying – P12
Heat 1 – P11
Heat 2 – P8
Final – DNS
A frustrating end to what was shaping up to be a very strong result.
Weekend Summary
Motorsport can be unforgiving, but this weekend showed real progress.
Key positives:
• Strong pace in both wet and dry conditions
• Consistent improvement across sessions
• Confident race starts and overtaking
• Valuable experience in race situations
We leave Rowrah P11 in the championship standings, a solid result given the circumstances and a strong platform to build on.
Looking Ahead
Focus now shifts to Rounds 3 & 4 at Glan Y Gors (GYG) in May, where the aim is to build on this momentum and convert pace into results.
Thank You
A huge thank you to everyone who supported us throughout the weekend — the team, coaches, fellow drivers, and everyone offering encouragement along the way.
Congratulations to Elijah Hartley and Lewis Holt on their podium finishes — great performances.
